How to Effectively Loose Your Mind
93,
I have never been one to accept belief because it was expected of me. Despite the fact that I was in school to become a minister I often was kicked out of worship groups for questioning things that people just seemed to accept with no real reason as to why. I eventually left the school for my own reasons and began my real searching that included all religious and philosophical sources. Over several years my beliefs were rearranged into something I was satisfied with and then it happened... I read a particular book that presented deeper questions that resonated with my mentality on such a level that my belief foundation was demolished with nothing left in its place.
As you can imagine longing for answers and not having them can put you into a state of mental chaos and that of course will alter how you behave. I spent about a month of sleepless nights, dreamless bits of sleep and even my mind woke me when I was able to sleep by analyzing possible answers for questions that were still needing to be answered.
You see, the problem was that as I learned new things my beliefs refused to adapt and it was that blind faith and acceptance that I always opposed in others that held my own progress back. One day at work (embarrassedly in tears) it occurred to me that belief is just as material as money, shirts or nice things around the house and if you become attached to those beliefs as you would nice things they have a tendency to restrict you. I had to adapt my belief in order to accept what I perceived as the truth. It was that night that I was able to finally sleep with an easy mind.
Any how a long story short (and ultimately the reason this is classified in the "lost my mind" section) I realized I needed to remove the superstition from my faith and that led me to the Ordo Templi Orientis. With the information I have learned I am able to apply the understanding that everyone will come do different understandings based on their own experiences. And it is a mandate to discover my own true will and accomplish it leaving others the liberty of doing the same in their own unique way. It is this application that allows all to unite under a universal brotherhood.
If I never would have lost my mind I never would have found it.
