Missing The War Of My Generation

tet-offensive-warIf you look real hard, every single generation has been involved in a war, from 1700;s till now, WWI,WW2, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm/Shield, Iraq, and now Afghanistan.

When I see guys return home from being "over there”, something inside me hurts. I feel like I should be over there as well, doing my part, fighting the good fight, only a messed up skeletal system from a bike crash when I was 16 and Bi-polar disorder keep me out of the military. But I so want to be a part of it, to have the experiences that seem to make one’s life "alive". My father was in Vietnam and saw the 69 Tet offensive. His stories amaze me, and I often find myself wishing I could of served in any war really, not just the one today.

Because of my bike crash, and incompetent doctors I am left with hindered mobility, circulatory problems, and just fubar over all. But that doesn’t mean that I wouldn’t want to be a soldier to serve my country as good or as bad as it is these days, and to just be a part of something that’s so much bigger than myself.

That’s why I feel I miss the war of my generation.

I kinda know how you feel I wanted to go into the army when I was 18 but I was living with my bf and his dad and sister at the time his dad told me horrible stories about women and the army and told me if I went in I couldn't be with his son I guess sometimes I feel like I made the wrong decision.
